“Your Majesty,” the farmer began, “I have a dispute with my neighbour. He claims my cow strayed into his field and ate his crops. But the truth is, the cow was tied securely in my yard all night!”
The king raised an eyebrow. “Then why does he accuse you?”
The farmer smiled calmly. “Because, Your Majesty, he is jealous of my harvest. He wants compensation without proof.”
The courtiers murmured. One minister whispered, “He speaks boldly.”
The king leaned forward. “And what proof do you offer?”
The farmer replied, “Send a guard to my farm. He will see the rope marks on the post and the untouched grass in my neighbour’s field at dawn.”
The king nodded slowly. “Wisely spoken. Your wit has won my trust.”
